Office tower crown & facade

Crown and contour lighting for a commercial tower, using narrow-beam wall washers and a timed switch-off schedule.

Representative example. This page describes a typical scheme built with our luminaires; client and site details are generalised.

The brief

A new office tower needed an identity on the skyline that would not disturb neighbouring residential buildings or the occupants working late.

The approach

Narrow-beam linear washers at the crown light the top floors from the roof terrace, so no fixtures are visible from the street. Contour lines trace the vertical edges of the tower and stop below the occupied floors.

The scheme runs at full output until late evening, then drops to the contour lines only on a timed schedule. A cooler white on the crown and warmer white on the podium separates the tower from its base.

Points worth noting

  • Optics were chosen to keep light off glazing on the occupied floors.
  • Luminaires were mounted on the roof parapet so they can be maintained without façade access equipment.
